Mirror, Mirror on the Wall

Thrift stores are magical. I LOVE walking into a store and finding a diamond in the rough amidst a pile of garbage. Yes most thrift stores have a different ... aroma about them, but the deals can be killer! I remember when I was in elementary school and my mom would take us to DI .... I was embarrassed to be buying someone's used clothing... but now I prefer thrift stores and their prices. A good chunk of my closet is made up of thrift store finds.

Mitchell and I took our "fun money" we had saved up and headed to the nearest Chipotle (in Bountiful 25 mins away) and then hit DI on the way home. We came home with a beauty for sure ......

We do not wish to offend those of you who happen to have this painting hanging in your homes this very minute .... it just isn't our style .... it t'was the frame that made us drool.

With a little TLC from Mitchell ... this frame was transformed into an awesome mirror that would cost a pretty penny in a store.

Hey, I did the same thing last week. I went in to the Goodwill and found this amazing frame and sicko art. They wanted $40. What??? I marched up to the front, waited in line and asked if they'd lower the price. "Seriously, look at this thing. It is NOT worth $40!" The lady turned it over and on the back was an original price tag of $82. She then told me that it was worth $80. I said, "Come on, that wasn't printed in 2009. I'm just going to destroy it. It's not even worth half that much." I ended up getting it for $15. I sprayed the picture with chalkboard paint and now I have an awesome chalk board that I put on a huge awesome easel to greet people at my home for parties and other fun things. Score!

Looks great! And that room he's tanding in is kinda the same as our front room--sage green walls, wood floor (actually bamboo), white trim, and black accents (picture frames, piano, etc.). That mirror would look great in there. I love it!

Oh, Mitchell and Erin, how sweet! You finished my Christmas present. And I don't even think you have my name this year. You guys are so thoughtful.
Very impressive find. Where did you get the mirror you put in the frame?

Monette, actually those are not wood floors, that is the cardboard box from the mirror came in, that we got at Home Depot. And yes we didn't clean up before we took the picture. That sewing machine has been on the table since erin sewed my shiny gold drapery pants. And since we never have company, we haven't had to move it yet... Sorry. And that on the table was pumpkin pasta, thanks for the recipe Mirien.

that sewing machine is a dear member of our family and takes it's seat at the head of our table....we actually don't really have anywhere else to put it.

I never told you how cool your new wall decor is. I love it. Just a standard size mirror from HD? Nice, go Home Depot.
