The 7 Hour DI Excursion

Thrift stores always seem to get me into trouble.  I have a hard time staying away from them.  Yesterday I was feeling a little anxious and just had to get out of the house … so off I went on a DI adventure in hopes of finding something awesome … but all I got from this DI adventure was this …

Yes.  A lovely hospital ID bracelet. Pretty far from awesome.

No, I didn’t go into labor unfortunately.

Long story short … I was stopped at a light, the light turned green, traffic wasn’t moving but that didn’t stop the lady behind me and BAM.  Apparently green only meant “go” to her, regardless of what traffic was doing.    Everyone kinda freaked out when a very ripe 39 week pregnant lady got out of the car.  They insisted that medics be called … so we had the ambulance and the fire truck come to my rescue, sirens and all.   Slightly embarrassing.   I called my OBGYN and she wanted me to come into the hospital so the baby could be monitored.  So that’s what we did.

Love those hospital potato sack gowns … nothing makes me feel prettier.

We were hooked up to the monitor for 5 hours … but it was kinda nice to be able to hear our little girl’s heart for that long and know that she was alright.   I just hope the crash didn’t scare her bad enough that she will now be prolonging her arrival …

Mitchell decided he better test out his hospital bed since we plan on being back here in about a week or so.

His conclusion:  “No deal on the hospital bed”

We enjoyed a very lovely gourmet dinner together.  You would think hospitals would be trying to promote healthy foods … nope.  Greasy grilled cheese with a side of fries.  Nice.

Mitchell was so great … and so I rewarded him with my pudding pie.

The damage:  nothing too bad.  Just an ugly car.

We are incredibly grateful and blessings have been counted:

- the baby is good and my placenta wasn’t hurt in any way.

- the car is totally drivable

- the accident wasn’t my fault therefore our insurance rates won’t be on the rise

Hopefully the next time we post any hospital pictures, they will be of Mitchell and I holding a baby.

Ice Ice Baby

Just got home from the Doctor …. word on the street is we will probably NOT be having a baby this week.  Baby has dropped … but zero zip zilch nada in the dilation department.  Mitchell has been having little pep talks with my stomach the last week or so, trying to coax her out, but I guess our little girl isn’t a very good listener.

So on to 39 weeks we go.

I really hope our little girl gets some of Mitchell’s devilish good looks

We attended a breastfeeding class over the weekend and we hope our baby is a tad bit cuter than this poor little plastic creature.

We celebrated Father’s day with this amazing dad.

And my parents have officially put in their mission papers … we should hear something in the next couple weeks and off they go in September.   Super proud of them.

Hit Me Baby One More Time

Week 37?!  Wha?!?!  This is crazy talk.  Absolute crazy talk.

I must be getting slightly nervous because I have had several dreams as of late concerning the baby/pregnancy ….

Dream #1:  We had the baby and brought her home, several days later it dawned on me that I hadn’t fed her since we left the hospital.  She never cried … so I never really thought to feed her.   I woke up in a slight panic to say the least.

Dream #2:  We had the baby … but she came out the size of a 6 month old .. and she could talk … and she was talking and saying weird stuff about Lindsey Lohan.  Yeah, this baby was weird and I was SO relieved to wake up and realize that I was still pregnant and we weren’t stuck with that baby.

Dream #3:  I was in a large group with my mom and she began talking about my weight gain with everyone and she said, “Erin, what are you up to now?  250lbs?”  I was super embarrassed.  I guess, subconsciously this baby weight is worrying me.

Despite all these dreams, I think we are ready for this little creature to make her big debut.  Mitchell asks me everyday if she is “ready” yet … unfortunately I think she has a little more time left in the oven.

I officially retired from work last Friday … super weird.  I have never not worked … so this has been kind of an adjustment.  Sewing, going to the gym, practicing hypnobirthing, thrift store shopping, cleaning and cooking have filled my days this past week.  I’m super grateful for Mitchell who is willing to work hard and bring in the dough.   Love that Mitchell.

The majority of my maternity clothes are getting … snug.  This leaves me with a few options:

1.  wear work out clothes all day

2.  join a nudist colony

3.  invest some $ in some moo-moos

4. Never leave the house

All very appealing options I must say.

So in summary:  We are ready.  I like to be punctual and often early to events/meetings … I hope she takes after me.  I wouldn’t mind her showing up early to her own birthday party…
