Heaven sent. 1988 was a good year. We were really excited to get this car but there was only one tiny problem ... manual transmission. The last encounter I had with a stick shift was UGLY. My little brother had previously tried to teach me .... he pronounced me unfit to ever drive such a machine.
The Blue Beauty
The Blue Beauty
We got the car Thursday night and I had to work early the next morning. This was a conundrum indeed. I woke poor Mitchell up at 3:45 am to take me to work that morning. I knew I had to face my fear head on ... so later that morning the driving lessons began, along with the anxiety.

From Black Beauty to Blue Beauty. Not a bad trade and no money flying out the window! Yahoooo!
WOW~ I'm impressed again.
I love the No Monthly Payment Game!! I think that Blue Beauty is older that our Bronco was. Meaning that YOU WIN!! Your prize? Super fun newlywed memories, for sure!! And possibly the discovering of some as yet hidden mechanicking skills. Or maybe the avoidance of speeding tickets since the Blue Beauty may not pull the stunts we experienced in Mitchell's old new car. (As opposed to your new old car.) Good work, you two. You're a great duo. The vibes I get from your blog are always good.
You can do it, Erin! And Monette is right--YOU WIN! Our car was a 1983 and we got married in 1992, so you've got us beat by several years. And, yes, such cars make for great memories. Ones that your kids will roll their eyes over every time you tell the stories. At least your car goes into reverse.
I love the no car payment game too! We have bene emjoying it for some time now. Love the blog!
